About a third of the book consists of an exploration of his teaching methods with recollections by many former stu...

I like to play tunes in lower octaves( on the geetar) because open position is about the range of my singing or bellowing voice. Single lines are more forgiving than chords which can be sensitive to range.
What’s the difference between perfect pitch and synesthesia?

Some of our favorite changes

I was playing through the examples starting on page 68 , experimenting around with using different registers. If you play them on guitar they will sound an octave lower than they are written. This could change the character of the lines..or maybe not, but it’s worth ‘dinking’ around with.

The link to the online version of the magazine is : http://www.guitarworld.com/guitarone

I don't think the Vic Juris text is posted though perhaps some audio is posted under 'lessons'.

I must confess that I read this article at the grocery store, at the magazine shelf. It isn't often that I get to read about the LCC while shopping for mangos!

Lenny Breau

I just finished the biography of the late great guitarist, Lenny Breau, ‘One Long Tune’. I was interested to learn that he was introduced to the LCC as a young man.

Blue in Green

I was wondering if CMGs could be enlisted in Blue in Green, particularly on the Ami and Dmi chords.

They are ‘h’ because Em and Am( and C major) are sharp-lying in relation to F Lydian.

One could treat the first bar(Emi) of Nardis as a VIIh CMG and the fourth bar(Cmaj7) as a Vh, the fifth bar(A minor) as IIIh and the sixth bar as a VIIh. The first chord of the bridge could be treated as a IIIh. These choices are based on fact that the melody as a whole uses F Lydian. You could also...

The biggest difference is that the new edition represents forty-two more years( think about it: ‘forty-two more years’) of thought about the subject. The new edition explores( in a very ‘straightforward’ way!)many of the inner workings of the Concept right of the bat. The old edition has a l...

"The Nardis melody seems to be alternating between two scales on the one tonic. An eastern sounding scale, R,b2,3,4, 5,#5,7 and a blues or pentatonic minor on the same root." This analysis is true in a horizontal sense but I was thinking of the CMGs as relating to certain chords and vertic...
