thanks for the introduction to tj anderson (another hole in my education filled). "the choice between something that you're good at and something that you love... is problematic" is beautiful. on my youtube channel the next movie was thelonious monk solo "coming on the hudson" which seems like the perfect example. i recently got the jazz icons dvd of solo monk in france 1969 - he just plays his heart out.

i also watched these interviews with tj and dj spooky on the future of music and art:

ML and Bob,

I'm catching up on all the great content you've put out here since the last time I signed in!

I have thought about this question before. "the choice between something that you're good at and something that you love".

How do we know that we're good at something? In some ways because of good feedback from others, I think. Maybe not that alone, but that's part of it. So if we work at a mainstream activity and get good feedback, are we good at it? And then what if we work at a niche interest and get less feedback? Are we less good at it? It might seem that way.
