Afterwards I was lucky enough to have dinner with a few of the Certified Instructors of the Concept - Ben Schwendener (Boston), Prince Wells III (St Louis), Marc Rossi (Boston), Robert Weiss (Vienna), Uwe Steinmetz (Berlin) and Gregg Ramsey (Boston). Andy Wasserman played at the event, but didn't make it to dinner.

Visitors, players and speakers included from memory and in no special order Oliver Lake, Marty Erlich, Ran Blake, Neil Leonard, Garry Giddins, Marit Jerstad (Norway), John Cumming, Steve Elman (Berklee), Duncan Heining (GR's biographer), Jock Millgardh (GR's son), The LTO with Brad Hatfield, George Garzone, Pat Hollenbeck, Dave Bargeron, Mike Walker, Billy Ward, Bill Urmson, Ken Cervenka, Stanton Davis, Tiger Okoshi, Lew Soloff, Allan Chase, Jeff Galindo, Hiro Honshuku, and Alice Russell.

A perfect day.

John Cumming is with Serious in London, and was Russell's manager. Steve Elman is not Berklee affiliated; he's a Boston- based broadcast veteran and a writer. I don't think Alice Russell played in the band, but she did speak. It was a remarkable celebration.

hi tuscany,

thanks for the info about john cumming. i wasn't sure who he was.

did we meet at the church? and would you care to introduce yourself - to the forum?

despite the recent silence, i'm pretty sure there still is one.

hope you're all well. it's a little quiet up here...

chesper, ran played "autumn in new york" it was beautiful and he managed to end it with a really long and pregnant silence - just with his amazing body language and concentration. garzone was incredible too - a solo performance of "i want to talk about you" - with all his inflections and coltrane's.

they all played so what while walking through the church aisles like a new orleans parade... and much more

happy summer,

bob
