ok. so i just got back from the hmv store where i went to see if they had a new wayne shorter cd, since i got a ticket (couldn't afford 2) to see him in december. well they don't (there is one coming out but they don't have it). in fact in the jazz department they were playing country and western music. so i went into the classical department and walked over to the 20th/21st century section - they were playing gershwin (2 pianos, very nice, but...).

so i wondered, if i spent $25 could i buy a great jazz cd which pushed the musical envelope as we know it - at hmv or any other musical superstore?

tell me i'm wrong. please.

Thanks Sandy. I'll check it out.

Anyone else have a candidate for a $25 investment in music?

Oh I had no idea Wayne Shorter had a new CD coming out! He's my absolute favorite musician, not only in his music but also in his lifestyle. Bob I really envy you for being able to see him.

Brad Mehldau's new live CD pushes the musical envelope quite a bit.

Motherload, I downloaded these from emusic.com. I didn't get any performer credits with the download.
I'm curious who the guitarist is on "America the Beautiful". Sounds like Cornell Dupree. Is it?

Nice to hear Eric hang it out on something besides disco. He sounds great! That's quite a tapestry of sound on that side.
