Re: About new scales.

Hi Fer! Perhpas your note collection is most at home on +V degree - requiring just the 8th tonal level. For ease let's treanspose it by half-step up: C#, D, E, F, A, B, C It does look like F Lyd Augmented with both V and +V included. So, your original group (starting on C = B# in equal temperament, ...

Re: Sharing some personal stuff using LCC

:-) Many thanks. I'm not at the level to be able to catch all this just by ear.
It helps to see it analyzed like this. I'll play with it a bit...
All the best,

Re: Lydian mode IIIB/minor+5

Thanks, I love your thought 'hooks'! But I need one clarification: The (-7#5) resides on (VI) of the AuxDim. AuxDim should be: I II bIII IV +IV +V VI VII So, and F AuxDim: F G Ab Bb B C# D E I don't see how a -7#5 can sit on it's VI degree, as it would need to be composed as: D F A#/Bb C so we are m...

Re: Lydian mode IIIB/minor+5

Later edit: Only now I've included this chord in my 'chart' which shows the order of birth for different chords according to Russells Order of Tonal Gravity: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzznNGq7LJzCNG9VSGtTeGdieFE/edit?usp=sharing and come to realize certain things... When you start stacking fi...

Re: Lydian mode IIIB/minor+5

I haven't explored the use of this chord much yet, but now it occurs to me that the backing machine I use for practice doesn't even offer it. But since it does support slash chords I'm going to try a C sus4 / A... It should be the same thing. Perhpas it would be ok to think of this chord as a Vsus4 ...

Re: Hello and another kind of Chart

Again, many thanks for encouragement and your posts ML! The 1st ed arrived, and I've studied the main part carefully. I'm so happy, the picture has become much clearer. I found the 1st ed much easier to go through than the 4th ed. Just as you've mentioned somewhere on the forum, it's actually hinted...

Re: Hello and another kind of Chart

Scales are merely depositories for intervals. Dear ML, it took me more than a month to decipher that. Maybe I'm slow but I think I am starting to grasp. Thank you so much. I managed to snatch the 1st edition of the book from ebay some weeks ago, hopefully it will shed a bit more light for me on all...

Re: Hello and another kind of Chart

Let me share what I've been playing with during past weeks... For sake of thought exercise and experiment I decided to limit myself and explore 7 note scales, more precisely scales which contain exactly 7 different notes, and where 2 half-steps in sequence are not allowed ( e.g. B/C/C# is illegal be...

Re: Hello and another kind of Chart

ML thanks! I'm chewing this, and it will take some time. I'm also running some numbers and comparing with experiments with the instrument. In the mean time, let me amuse you with some remarks my younger daughter (4.5 y.o.) made a few days ago while I was telling the older one the names of the tones ...

Re: Hello and another kind of Chart

Hi Motherlode! Let me say that a big chunk of my thank you goes towards you. I appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts, knowledge and experience very much! About equating functional harmony to LCCOTO - that was not my intention, although it might looks so, and maybe you've correctly detec...

Hello and another kind of Chart

Hello everyone! My name is Mato and I live in Zagreb (Croatia). Last autumn I managed to study the Book, and have become an addict. Naturally many posts on this forum captured my interest since then, and finally I wanted to say thank you to everyone who maintains the forum, and others who help by pr...
