New Edition of Heining's Biography of GR
There is a new (October 2020) "substantially revised" edition of Heining's biography of George Russell. From now on this is the one to get. I'm tempted to update mine also. https://londonjazznews.com/2020/10/30/duncan-heining-stratusphunk-the-life-and-works-of-george-russell/ Thanks to San...

Re: Lineage
Hi Sandy,
I know what you mean. That sounds like an amazing double-album. Resonance is a great label and Zev Feldman is really tuned in to lineage. I was listening to a track from their Coltrane date Offering Live at Temple University - like a second coming of A Love Supreme!

Lineage
I was performing my visual music at the International Society for Improvised Music conference a couple of weeks ago at Augsburg University Minneapolis. There I met the amazing young Swiss classical and free improvising pianist Raphael Sudan who gave me his 2014 album "Bach, Schubert, Liszt"...

Re: The School of Jazz in Lennox Massachusetts by Perry Robi
Thanks sfphotoworks. I never met Perry Robinson, but I would go to gigs in New York as an audience member and from time to time his name would be unexpectedly announced and he'd come on and do some amazing free jazz improvisation and then leave. He was a legend. He also maintained a close friendship...

The School of Jazz in Lennox Massachusetts by Perry Robinson
The great improvising clarinettist Perry Robinson died this week. Here is his personal account from "The Travelling Man" of his time as a student at The School of Jazz Lennox https://books.google.ca/books?id=G1eg3nnz9swC&lpg=PP1&pg=PA62#v=onepage&q&f=false And here's the tr...

David Baker
https://youtu.be/qu-2yURwBC4?t=39m42s Yesterday I came across this David Baker lecture to school kids in Indiana from 2013 and I thought some of you might find what he says interesting. He talks about growing up in Indianapolis and his life in music. The whole thing is 47 minutes long and I’ve set ...

Re: Hello! / Intro
Welcome Subhraag! I met Subhraagh online in a new Forum dedicated to the use of timbre in music and research. I was blown away by the ingenuity of the new instrument he has built and the soulfulness of his sound. We became facebook friends and discovered a couple of friends in common - David Hykes a...

Re: Organic Music Theory
I feel moved to add something here in support of The LCC: Ben's book is timely, interesting and adds much new information about The Concept. It may not have been published with permission from the George Russell Estate (and says as much on the inside cover) I don't know these details and of course o...

Re: Happy Birthday George Russell
Http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/musician.php?id=3978 http://www.radionz.co.nz/concert/programmes/composeroftheweek I happened to be here today... and checked the radio new zealand link. The list of composers whose work has been celebrated is now a thing of beauty in itself. As Alice stated above, G...

Personal update
It's great to see the flurry of recent activity on the Forum. Thanks for contributing! As soon as I'm able I will update the PHP software and remove some of the old dead-ended discussions (Spring, or maybe Summer cleaning). FYI I'm back in school doing my MA and PhD and learning programming and we'r...

Re: Compass Insignia From Title Page
Will, Take a look at chespernevins explanation here - and the conversation with strachs. There is no explicit description by George in the book - so we need to think it ourselves. http://www.lydianchromaticconcept.com/f ... gram#p1728
