Marcus Belgrave

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Marcus Belgrave recently.

My condolences to all that knew him and felt close to him. I am glad to have become aware of him through this forum in the last decade.

All best wishes,

Re: Marcus Belgrave article

Hey, let the horns do the heavy lifting...and you just come in singing on the harp!! I'll watch your back. LOL. HA HA :D Love it! "Simple So" : Wow, very nice. Lyrics too! You've got some interesting things going on metrically there. I listened a few times, but am not sure what it is yet ...

Re: Marcus Belgrave article

Interesting that you have ready access to "the" song that makes the story. :)

Great tune! Reading a chart like that will give fits to us harmonica players, lol!

Re: Marcus Belgrave article

Ok, very cool. Thanks for the news. Glad to hear that his health is looking up. I noticed that his wife was performing at the festival too, but hadn't known about her before either. I guess if I had any specific questions re: the Concept for him, I would ask him how deep did he get into the LCC theo...

Re: Marcus Belgrave article

Wow, great to hear that he's still performing, even with the breathing issues. Ask him how that's going, will you?

Re: Trademarks

Thanks for sharing your legal journey. Zero Gravity - Yes, I love it! You really have transcended tonal chords/scales with your approach. I can hear the traffic image in there. I listened to it a few more times just now, imagining your traffic stop. I think I have had images of looking at outer spac...

Re: Trademarks

Very cool.

Are you going to create a Sonic Migration Logo? :)

"Try these new and improved sounds by Motherlode. Now created with Sonic Migration(tm)!" Ha ha... just kidding around. Congrats, and more power to you!

Re: Technical Appendix to the 1959 Edition

That sounds nice DannyJ. There are great things that are only in the 1959 edition. It is a great book to have in itself. In some ways, the old book has more information and (subjectively speaking) perhaps more character or personality. There are a number of things that are unique to the new book als...

Re: Technical Appendix to the 1959 Edition

Hey DannyJ, Just a question for you and maybe some additional info. Do you already have the new book, and are just digging back into the 1959 book? Or are you starting from the 1959 book? There's no problem starting from the 1959 book, but are you aware that chart A in the new book has some differen...

Re: Copyright Issued

Great stuff Motherlode! I finally got a chance to check out the copyright online. Here's a direct url, for people to check out. http://tinyurl.com/lu8jyan It mentions that Sonic Migration is: "A unique process to generate harmony from the entire spectrum of intervals (144) in western music.&quo...

Re: Copyright Issued

Hey, wow, nice work Motherlode! Can you help me understand what this means exactly? Did Ms. Edith DiBartolo actually understand the whole idea of Sonic Migration from beginning to end? Is that why it took a year? Is the copyright on the actual written musical work "Mother of Tongues" as yo...

Re: Melodic Intervals in Tonal Gravity

Motherlode,

Thanks a lot for your comments and your suggestion. That would be a great exercise. I also have something along slightly different lines coming up here in a little while that you might find interesting.

Re: Melodic Intervals in Tonal Gravity

You get a different feeling about the material when you work so close with it don't you?
Absolutely. And perhaps from the outside it could appear to be a pointless exercise. However in my experience it has opened up some interesting doors.

Re: Melodic Intervals in Tonal Gravity

lol, yes, I knew! Here we go: http://www.4shared.com/mp3/GcZ2kj6E/Tonal_Gravity_Melodic_Interval.html I changed over from Final Notepad to Musescore, to more easily export sound, and it gave me more flexibility in the notation too. Here is the new score. Tonal Gravity Melodic Intervals-1.png Tonal G...
