Not sure if this helps.. It does indeed help. And, on 128 [The 'wheels within wheels']... is the full spectrum of possibilities provided by the LC scale for exloitation of SMG within a prevailing chord/parent scale alliance.... However, their use within VTG alliances must be carefully managed to su...

Is this a serviceable paraphrase of GR p.127 (last paragraph):

Look at example VIII:I. with the key of the music on Roman numeral I at the 6 o'clock position. Now imagine each point of the circle of 5ths, each with its own Chart A.

'Wheels within wheels.'

Again on that diagram Bob posted.... Wouldn't it be cool if someone could make such a "interactive" slide-rule type tool to display the modes of a Principal Scale in all the keys, and how they bend and twist when morphed into the more outgoing scales? If anyone knows the web develper who ...

strachs wrote:That circle of fifths diagram is cool. Did you also notice WHICH majors and minors they are?

They are the major triads of a PMG and it's CMG - related keys, plus their relative minors.

Arf!!

SMG is quite a haystack. Finding the needle, i.e., a 3x5 principle to guide SMG choices is a challenge (at least for one who is challenged). Well, you get the point.

I see that their are discussions of CMGs and SMGs that are worth reviewing. Sandy & Bob A. were more active during this period, so it's worth reviewing just on that account.

On the above link, I find myself in a Pythagorean trance by the fact that in the Lydian scale spelled as stacked perfect 5ths, the triad qualities are Major Major Major minor minor minor diminished. This is the only mode which on which this occurs. Hmmm.

SMGs Anyone?

First bite. Transitioning from the ideas of AMT & CMG, the chordmode of interest is afforded its PMG status, thus instead of suggesting an alternative within the parent LC, now implies a different parent parent LC in a more or less remote relationship as determined by the circle of fifths. In th...

CMG tag:
On 126 says that if it's a v, you can use the 11 member scales of the parent LC with it. If it's an h, the 8 PMGS of the concptual parent LC scale (i.e., the far left column) resolve to it
On to SMGs (Gulp!)
